Training/Credentialing
 
All coaches must be current on the following training/credentialing items before being allowed to coach.
 
1) Current US Lacrosse ADULT-level membership ($55)
  • Must be good through the last day of the season you're coaching
  • Click here to purchase or renew your membership
 
2) Register with us as a coach (free)
  • Have your US Lacrosse number handy (you'll be prompted to enter it)
  • Register in our spring 2018 coaches database here
  • As part of this process you will be redirected to NCSI to submit to a background check (free):
    • Background check must be completed every 2 years
    • Click here for details on what the screening checks for
 
3) Current concussion training certificate (free)
  • Certificate must be < 12 months old
  • If you need to take the training, take the NFHS online concussion class here (takes 30 minutes)
  • Email your certificate of completion to this email address -

4) US Lacrosse level 1 online coaching class (free)
  • Click here to login to your US Lacrosse account
  • Click on "Find a Course"
  • Type in "Fundamentals" and hit enter
  • Click on "Fundamentals of Coaching Boys' Lacrosse" and take the class:
    • Takes 2-3 hours (does not need to be completed in one sitting)
 
5) US Lacrosse level 2 online coaching class ($30)
  • Click here to login to your US Lacrosse account
  • Click on "Find a Course"
  • Type in "Men's Level 2 Course" and hit enter
  • Click on "Men's Level 2 Course " and take the class:
    • Takes 2-3 hours (does not need to be completed in one sitting)
 
6) Vipers coaches training sessions (free) - TBA
 
7) CYLA coach training program (free)
  • Each coach will have the opportunity to attend a regional coaching clinic and will receive access to the 3d Methodology Library, a portal of terminology, drills, pre-set practice plans by age, an ability to create your own practice plans to share with other coaches, diagrams, and video. Each regional coaching clinic will contain the following components: 
    • Age specific skills, concepts, drill setups, and proper layers within each drill.
    • Sample practice plans and how to create practice plans utilizing the 3d Lacrosse Methodology Library.
    • Creating the ultimate learning environment in practice.
    • Becoming an effective in game coach.
    • Communication strategies to connect with and teach players.
    • Best practices of effective youth coaching.
    • Practical portion where coaches interact in skill and drill walk throughs.
  • Below are the dates and times of each coaching clinic available, broken down by age divisions. If you are a new coach, please try to attend the March 10th date at the 3d office which will be an extended session for new coaches. 
    • Denver Metro Area: Sunday, February 25th, at Foothills Sports Arena (3608 S Kipling St, Denver, CO 80235)
      • U7 – U11 Coaches: 8 – 10 AM
      • U12 – U15 Coaches: 8 – 10 AM
    • Northern Colorado: Sunday, March 4th, at the Sport Stable (1 Superior Dr, Superior CO 80027)
      • U7 – U11 Coaches: 2 – 4 PM
      • U12 – U15 Coaches: 4 – 6 PM
    • Colorado Springs: Sunday, March 4th, at Pine Creek High School (10750 Thunder Mountain Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80908)
      • U7 – U11 Coaches: 9 – 11 AM
      • U12 – U15 Coaches: 9 – 11 AM
    • Denver Metro Area: Saturday, March 10th, at the 3d Office (1301 S Jason St, Unit K)
      • U7 – U11 Coaches: 10 AM – 12:30 PM
      • U12 – U15 Coaches: 12 – 2:30 PM
    • Denver Metro Area: Saturday, April 14th, at the 3d Office (1301 S Jason St, Unit K)
      • U7 – U11 Coaches: 5 PM – 7 PM
      • U12 – U15 Coaches: 5 P - 7 PM

8) CYLA rules class (free) - TBA
  • CYLA requirement for head coaches (recommended for all):
    • You can't be a spring head coach unless you take this class
  • Class is 2-4 hours of in-person training given in a half dozen locations around the state mid-February through mid-March
